The highlight of our undergraduate degree courses is the individual capstone project. In all the student spends 450 hours throughout the academic year, reporting to their academic tutor, and in the case of company projects, to a company mentor. This MSc allows you to focus your studies and combine different AI topics to suit your personal requirements and future plans. Our world-class teaching, research and industrial contacts will support you as you learn to understand fundamental AI concepts. You will study universal machine learning tools essential for any AI job profile, as well as specific practical and research skills on all five of the AI topics.
Teaching combines lectures, seminars, and tutorials, fostering comprehensive understanding and independent study. The programme is accredited by the British Computer Society, fulfilling academic requirements for registration as a Chartered IT Professional and Chartered Engineer. Graduates are poised to contribute meaningfully to the AI-driven industries of the future. This module is intended to serve as an introduction to machine ai engineering degree learning and pattern processing, but with a clear emphasis on applications. The module is themed around the notion of data as a resource; how it is acquired, prepared for analysis and finally how we can learn from it. The module will employ a practical Python-based approach to try and help students develop an intuitive grasp of the sophisticated mathematical ideas that underpin this challenging but fascinating subject.
Study options

For Postgraduate programmes Mauritian nationals with a degree from Mauritius or another English speaking country (as on the University’s approved list) are not required to submit an English Language test. For all courses not requiring A Level Maths UEC Maths must be studied, the grade required https://www.metadialog.com/ will vary by programme (C8 required for most programmes, some may require B6 or B3). A pass in 6 OACs (minimum of three at grade B, and three at grade C) is generally acceptable for admission to the first year of an undergraduate programme, although, some programmes may require higher grades.
How you’ll learn on your course
You’ll examine different types of logic such as propositional logic, first order predicate logic description logic in the context of knowledge representation and reasoning and study the use of ontologies and ontology languages. If you choose to study part-time, you’ll complete all the units over two years. Candidates from Costa Rica generally require a) A levels or IB Diploma or b) Bachiller en la Enseñanza Media plus a recognised foundation programme or c) successfully completed the first year of the Bachiller or Licenciado with 8/10 or higher. Yukon – Senior Secondary Graduation Diploma with an overall average of at least 85% in 5 grade 12 subjects (including provincial examinations where applicable). Core modules cover machine learning, Python programming, software engineering, ethics in AI, and symbolic AI. An alternative MSc option for computing backgrounds exploring AI and machine learning alongside other computing areas is available. The University of Edinburgh offers an outstanding MSc in Artificial Intelligence taught by renowned researchers. It provides comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to design and apply AI systems. The programme spans two semesters, blending lectures, tutorials, projects, and research methods.
In addition to the technical skills you’ll develop, we aim to equip you with key employability skills such as team working, report writing, communication, and negotiation skills along with an insight into the industry. With the support of our academic and technical team, you’ll undertake a piece of research on a topic of your choice related to your studies. This will involve designing, implementing and evaluating a substantial piece of software and documenting the research through writing a dissertation.

Is there a degree in AI?
The concentration in Data and Computational Science is one of two concentrations in the Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence. This concentration incorporates artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the software and data analytics applications of these technologies.
